BIOGRAPHY

"There is one word which may serve as a rule of practice for all one's life...reciprocity." - Analects of Confucius (Paraphrased)
The two oft-heard quotes above summarize the bedrock upon which I live life. Put simply, I know with absolute certainty that I’ll accomplish anything I set out to accomplish. And, equally important, the methods by which I accomplish these things are always founded upon ethics.
Why is this information relevant to you? First, when we embark upon a business relationship, you’ll find certainty within my certainty. I relentlessly pursue and achieve master results for every client I have the joy of working with. Second, during every step of the march toward our mutual goal, you’ll be certain that your best interests lay at the heart of my efforts.
Autobiography: I graduated Salutatorian from L’Anse Creuse High School in 1996, then spent a year in the frigid cold at Michigan Technological University (8 hours north of Detroit) studying Mechanical Engineering. I never truly wanted to be an engineer. After a year I decided to pursue my true goal of forging a career in Film and Video. With the support and encouragement of my family, I transfered to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
I graduated with a BA concentration in Film and Video from U of M’s school of Literature, Sciences, and the Arts (LSA) in 2002. After graduation I sent a resume to every production company listed in the Michigan Production Guide. I was only excited by one company - Chrome Bumper Films - so I focused my mind solely upon this company. Out of the 100+ companies I sent my resume to, it was only Chrome Bumper Films (CBF) that called me back.
CBF operated out of a tiny recording studio named 54 Sound. This is the same studio wherein Eminem recorded his first four albums. I was one of 13 people who worked in the space where Marshall Mathers and his team recorded some of the largest selling records of all time. While interning at the company for a year, I shot camera at 50 Cent’s CD release party, worked on two Eminem Concerts at Ford Field, met a slew of industry contacts, and developed thick skin. After I exhausted my last ounce of respect for my boss, I decided to leave CBF to pursue my own career, but not before I met fellow intern and my first business partner, Matthew Dudley. Matt and I are close friends to this day - he actually introduced me to my fiancee, Jessica.
In 2003 Matthew Dudley and I formed Faceman Productions. We filmed a multitude of live events around Detroit, produced music videos and EPK’s for bands, and made a name for ourselves within the Detroit Music Community. While running the production company, I also assistant art directed a variety of television commercials outside of Faceman Productions. Hired onto production crews by the tenacious and talented Shannon Cragin, and under the guidance of art directors such as Nick Gilbert and Eric Seppi, I learned first hand the complexities of full scale film and video production.
Time passed and my business partner Matt decided to take a full time position with Fox Sports Detroit as a camera operator. In 2006, while running Faceman Productions out of my living room in Hamtramck, MI, I partnered with a man to form a larger agency, Ohm Creative Group. I played the role of director and editor, the auteur of our film and video projects. We found office space in Royal Oak, MI that had a storefront - so we decided to open an art gallery called 323 East for which I designed urban boutique style t-shirts. Ohm Creative Group evolved into a web marketing agency where I honed my marketing skills and fully realized the power of integrated marketing campaigns. 323 East became Metro Detroit’s premiere “Cool” art gallery.
By 2009, the relationship with my business partner had deteriorated. I made the easy decision to walk away from both of my businesses, keeping only a silent profit interest in 323 East. This decision not only nurtured my happiness, but provided the freedom needed to pursue multiple creative outlets and relationships that otherwise would not have been available to me. I currently provide a multitude of film, video, and marketing services to a wide range of clients under the moniker of Schultzy, Inc.
I live in Harrison Township, MI, with my fiancee Jessica Matthews and our black lab, Jack. I love life, and thank God for it daily.
